"TEL ABYAD, Syria - Clashes broke out on Sunday between Turkish-back
extremist Islamist groups Ahrar al-Sharqiya and Jabhat al-Shamiyah at the Tel
Abyad border crossing with Turkey. Both groups are a part of the Syrian National
Army (SNA), a collection of militias, including several espousing Islamist
ideologies, formed and funded by Turkey."
Caption: White-field flag (with
black lettering) of the "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" militia (part of the rebel "Syrian
National Army") fighting in Syria c. Dec. 2018. This rebel militia is opposed to
the Syrian government of Pres. Assad, and is allegedly financed by Turkey. The
main logo image reads: "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" with a barely discernable flag at the
top showing the basic Islamic "Shahada" profession-of-faith.
